Saitama stamina ramen was created over 40 years ago by the owners of the restaurants “Nyan Nyan” (a long-standing Chinese restaurant in Saitama Prefecture), and “Manman-tei” (located near Omiya station).
The dish has a strong following with students and business men for its reasonable price, delicious flavor and impressive toppings.
Saitama stamina ramen is made up of a shoyu (soy sauce) based broth with thin noodles, and toppings which include pork mince, chives and onions.
Coated in a spicy, thick sauce flavored with garlic, ginger, chili paste and spices, this dish definitely delivers on stamina.
Well-known throughout Saitama, Saitama stamina ramen is listed by the Saitama Tourism and International Relations Bureau as a “soul food”, and one of the prefecture’s main local B-grade foods (like junk food).
Nyan Nyan and Manman-tei have chain restaurants all over Saitama prefecture, so how about trying an authentic bowl of Saitama stamina ramen if you visit the area?
